THE EVENT WAS JUST
THE BEGINNING.
In April 2026, America Reads the Bible brought Americans together to publicly read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. The event may be over, but the invitation remains: open God's Word, read it for yourself, and let it speak to you.
One Week.
One Nation.
One Book.
America Reads The BibleAn ancient call, answered again.
Just as Ezra read the Word aloud to the people of Israel (Nehemiah 8:1–3), sparking revival, repentance, and a resolve to rebuild, America Reads the Bible called our nation back to its spiritual foundations.
For seven days, leaders from across the nation stood alongside Americans from every walk of life to read God’s Word aloud in our nation’s capital. But the vision was always bigger than one week.
Our Mission
To inspire Americans to read God’s Word for themselves and carry it into their lives, families, and communities as America enters the next 250 years of our national story.

HUNDREDS OF VOICES.
ONE BOOK.
More than 500 readers, from national leaders and pastors to families and people from every walk of life, took their place to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Between the readings, worship leaders filled the room with prayer and praise, keeping the focus where it belonged: on God and His Word.

The Story Behind America Reads the Bible
America Reads the Bible sprang from an idea God placed in Bunni Pounds’ heart. At the time, she was serving as an executive and leader at Family Policy Alliance. Bunni led the in-person event in April 2026 for America Reads the Bible, which became the largest cover-to-cover public reading of God’s Word in American history.
The event was made possible by the contributions of key leaders like Jayme Thompson, nearly forty state Family Policy Councils, more than one hundred ministry partner organizations, and more than 500 people who volunteered to read, from the President of the United States to governors, Cabinet members, and members of Congress.
The reading also included some of America’s most recognizable Christian leaders, local pastors, lay Christians, former prisoners, and a true cross-section of the Body of Christ. The entire Family Policy Alliance team contributed to this wonderful event and prays that Americans will continue to read the Bible throughout our great nation.
